This Articulate Storyline course was designed for employees of R Farm Supply, a fictional feed store chain serving backyard homesteaders across the US Southwest. The business problem was practical: a surge in first-time chicken owners during 2020 and 2021 left many customers without the foundational knowledge to protect their flocks, and store employees needed to be equipped to guide those conversations confidently and accurately.

Because employees came in with varying levels of poultry experience, the course was designed with optional branching navigation, allowing more experienced employees to move efficiently through the content while less experienced learners could access additional foundational material. Scenario-based learning was chosen as the primary strategy to mirror the authentic customer interactions employees would encounter on the job, giving learners a safe space to practice assessing customer needs and making product recommendations before doing so in real time with a real customer.

By the end of the course, learners are able to identify common predators and their attack styles, assess customer situations based on the details provided, and recommend appropriate products to improve coop security and deter predators.

This Articulate Rise course was designed to address a gap that exists in most standard mandated reporter training: while employers in many fields require annual mandated reporter certification, that training typically covers only straightforward cases. In reality, mandated reporters regularly encounter situations that are ambiguous, emotionally complex, or procedurally unclear, and they are often left without the practice or confidence to navigate them.

This course was designed as a supplement to basic mandated reporter training, targeting the messier, real-world scenarios that standard certifications do not address. Rise was selected as the primary authoring tool because its clean, mobile-friendly format is well suited to a diverse professional audience completing training across many different workplace settings. An embedded Storyline block was used to deliver scenario-based practice, allowing learners to work through complex reporting situations and receive immediate feedback on their decisions.

By the end of the course, learners are able to identify various types of abuse, determine whether a situation warrants a report, and correctly complete the appropriate reporting forms.
